Prospect House - Tasmania

When we first arrived at the majestic Prospect House, it felt as if we had been transported into the lavish setting of "Downton Abbey." Nestled in the serene countryside of rural Tasmania, this grand manor stood proudly, surrounded by meticulously manicured gardens that seemed straight out of a fairytale.

Originally built in 1830 by convicts for James Kestell Buscombe, Prospect House is a remarkable example of Georgian-style architecture.

Our accommodation, the Prospect Suite, provided views of the vineyards and gardens, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the countryside. The room exuded a sense of comfort and elegance, with period furnishings and plush beds beckoning us to relax and unwind.

As the owners also own Pooley Wines, one of Australia's most renowned vineyards, we were treated to exclusive wine tastings and experiences just across the road.

After a delightful dinner, we retired to the cozy sitting rooms, where crackling fires created a warm and inviting atmosphere. We couldn't help but marvel at the seamless integration of history and luxury that Prospect House offered, making our stay truly unforgettable.

During our stay, we took the opportunity to explore the surrounding grounds. From borrowing bicycles to explore the old horse stables to leisurely walks through the gardens, there was no shortage of activities to enjoy. The close proximity to the historic village of Richmond also provided us with opportunities to delve into local culture, including visits to the World Heritage Listed Port Arthur Historic Site and the renowned Coal River Valley wine region.

As we reluctantly said our goodbyes to Prospect House, we couldn't help but reflect on the exceptional experience we had encountered. Our stay had transported us to a world of elegance, where the past seamlessly intertwined with modern comforts. P
